Who were the Anglo Saxons and where did they come from?
We looked at lots of artefacts from the Anglo- Saxon era and tried to predict what they were and how they would be used.
Using their historical skills and knowledge the children made some great predictions.
Anglo – Saxon Day
We had an amazing day as Anglo-Saxons. (see photos - coming soon).
We spent the day being Anglo-Saxons. We took on roles that would be typical for that time. We had children learning about runes (stones with symbols which were used in early writing but also tell fortunes, cast spells and provide protection).
Anglo-Saxons also followed different gods, we researched them and debated on the most powerful and why.
Finally, through research, we looked at the settlements the Anglo-Saxons created.
Challenge
With links to our English topic the children wrote diary entries as an Anglo-Saxon child. Please see the photos for examples of our great work.
