Kerr Mackie is a large and thriving primary school in the Roundhay area of Leeds. We are incredibly proud of our diverse community and welcome pupils from a wide range of backgrounds.  Our creative curriculum and teaching approaches, together with the vibrant learning environments, enthuse, engage and motivate our children.

Teaching Assistant (EYFS, KS1 or KS2 depending on skills and experience)

Payscale: A1/B1

Contract type: Fixed term in the first instance: 1st September 2024 to 31st August 2025. Term time only.

Hours: 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant with the potential to work with children across school.  Experience in supporting children with an SEND need (e.g. social, emotional and mental health needs, dyslexia, ASD, communication difficulties etc) would be highly desirable although training will be available for the right candidate.  The post will involve supporting the class teacher with both group work and 1-1 work. A daily lunchtime duty will be required in line with all support staff.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be committed to the provision of high quality support for learning within whole class teaching and through small group or 1-1 intervention.
  • Have high expectations of themselves and the children.
  • Be a confident and successful team player.
  • Be able to form excellent relationships with children, staff and families.
  • Have a sense of fun, enthusiasm, initiative and drive.
